Fleet manager

About the role

Operations and maintenance of our Sunfast 3200, 3300 and 3600.

 

Pre-season:

Extended maintenance including winch servicing, safety equipment checks and updates, rope repairs, interior woodwork etc. Also fitting out a new container (Feb 2026).

 

During the season (March - December):

Regular inspection and general maintenance including pre- and post-charter checks and cleaning. Swapping sails between training and racing, maintaining inventories and spares. Coordinating the rest of the maintenance team and external suppliers.

 

Employment type: Self-employed

Time commitment: 1-2 days per week (possibly more at the height of the season)

Start date: ASAP

Remunerations: Day rate dependent on experience and skills (invoices paid monthly)

Skills required:

  • Diesel engine maintenance

  • General boat maintenance

  • Use of project management & spreadsheet software

 

Bonus skills:

  • GRP and gelcoat repairs

  • Advanced splicing of doublebraid Dyneema

  • Knowledge of OSR and commercial coding requirements

  • Yachtmaster Offshore qualification

 

The ideal candidate

We are looking for someone freelance and self organised to take on the running of the operations at Mercury Yacht Harbour. The ideal candidate should have at least 2 years experience maintaining race yachts and be confident working alone, or leading others. Must be able to self manage and work around the schedule of the boats. Must be available to respond to last minute issues that arise during events.
